J. D. Women’s College in Imparting Women’s Education
J. D. Women's College is a Constituent unit of Patliputra University, Patna. It was established in the year 1971 to foster the cause of education for women in the state of Bihar. The college possesses a campus of 2.41 acres with strength of more than 6,000 students and 60 core faculty members along with 50 visiting/guest faculty members.
This institution is a multi-faculty college, imparting teaching up to Degree Honours stage (Self-Financing) in Commerce and Post-Graduation stage in Science & Arts. Under vocational education programme of the Govt. of India, the College introduced the teaching of Vocational Courses (BCA) at Degree Honours stage in the year 1997, BBM at Degree Honours stage in the year 2012, B. Com. Degree Honours stage in 2022 and Post-Graduate stage AICTE approved Professional courses MBA & MCA in the year 2002. Adoption of community college concept is another milestone in the history of the college.
As an institution of learning it has a commanding presence both in the University as well as in the capital of the state. The college, while maintaining its exemplary record in University examinations, has also emerged as a serious contender in inter University competitions winning large number of prizes.

Institution-Industry Interaction Cell (III-C)-
The college has constituted an Institute-Industry Interface Cell, where students form a forum to voice their opinions and interact with the decision makers from the corporate world. The cell is also responsible for organising special lectures of IT and Management experts.
The Placement Cell (P-C) –
The Faculty of Management and Computer Sciences has a well organized permanent placement cell consisting of different faculties and corporate representatives. One student representative securing highest marks in the 3rd semester of MBA & 5th semester of MCA is nominated to this committee by the Director. The main objective of P-C is to provide assistance and guidance to Professional Course students in getting on-the-job training/Project Training and placement in the corporate world.
For the benefit of the students, Technical Block of the college provides free and fast Wi-Fi facility.

A continuous system shall be followed to assess the students' performance. The students will be evaluated on the basis of class participation, quizzes, assignments, mid-term exams, seminars, group discussions, participation in co-curricular activities, over all behaviour and attendance; and will be awarded sessional marks at the end of each semester. The sessional work will be evaluated by a committee constituted by the director.
Each subject of the curriculum (theory/practical/project) has got an independent entity and will be evaluated separately. The candidates will have to obtain minimum required level (45%) in each and every entity of the curriculum independently and 45% marks in aggregate. - For registration, examination and award of degree kindly refer Univesity website.

Reservation Policy:
Reservation policy, as notified by the Bihar Government, will be strictly followed in the admission.
Group Insurance:
As per AICTE norms, Group Insurance is mandatory for all the admitted students.
Anti-Ragging Declaration:
As per AICTE norms, students will have to sign Anti-Ragging undertaking in the prescribed format at the time of admission. The undertaking must be duly signed by the concerned student as well as her parent.
Registration:
The admitted students (except those who are already registered with Patliputra University) will have to submit Migration Certificate from their previous university along with requisite fee for university registration. Without registration, they won’t be allowed to appear in the university exam.
Sent-up Rules:
75% attendance is mandatory. No student will be permitted to appear in the University examination unless she fulfils the condition of 75% attendance in each paper, Seminars, Case studies and Special Lectures.
Examinations:
Student will have to appear in the University Examination at the end of each semester. The examination will be conducted by Patliputra University, Patna.
Award of Degree:
On successful completion of the course, appropriate degree will be awarded by the Patliputra University, Patna.

(MBA)
Department of Management Study of the college provides Master of Business Administration (MBA) Programme only.

Eligibility Criterion for Admission to MBA:
Three years Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks. A candidate, who has appeared at the degree examination and is awaiting the result or is appearing at the degree examination, may also apply for admission; but her candidature will be cancelled if she fails to produce necessary documentary proof of her passing out the same with requisite 50 per cent marks at the time of Interview.
Admission and Selection Procedure:
Score sheet of any All India Management Entrance test as CMAT/MAT/CAT/XAT/ATMA of the same academic session (last 12 months i.e. September to May) is mandatory to apply for admission. The University will also conduct group Discussion and Personal Interview of the candidates short-listed on the basis of Entrance Test score (CMAT/MAT/CAT/XAT/ATMA).

The course curriculum MBA consists of compulsory and elective group subjects. The study of compulsory papers are meant to provide the basic concepts of business. And the elective papers provide extensive knowledge and skill in the area of specialized interest.

Project Work/On Job Training:
In 4th Semester, every MBA student is required to spend 30-45 days in an industry for project work under the guidance of a supervisor. The Project Report will be evaluated by an External examiner.
Academic Evaluation/Internal Assessment:

Master in Computer Application Programme
(MCA)
Department of Computer Sciences of the college provides Master in Computer Application (MCA) Programme at PG stage.
The objective of our MCA programmes is:

Eligibility Criterion for admission to MCA:
Passed B.C.A/ B.Sc. (Computer Science)/ B.Sc. (IT) / B.E. (CSE)/ B.Tech. (CSE) / B.E. (IT) / B.Tech. (IT) or equivalent Degree.
OR
Passed any graduation degree (e.g.: B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Sc / B.Com. /B.A./ B. Voc./ etc.,) preferably with Mathematics at 10+2 level or at Graduation level
Obtained at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying examination.
(Compulsory Bridge Course for those students who have no Mathematics & Computer background)
Admission and Selection Procedure:
Students will be admitted to this course on the basis of Written Test score obtained by them in the Entrance Test conducted by the University. The written test will be followed by Group Discussion & Personal Interview.

Course Curriculum:
The primary emphasis in MCA programme is on designing information systems and developing application software in diverse areas of programming languages, database systems etc. MCA is an integrated programme where the major thrust in its curriculum is on giving the students a sound background in computing, Business functions, Science & Technology and Environmental Management. Thus, the curriculum has these four streams of courses.
In computing, students learn the best from practice. A strong laboratory is an important part of the curriculum. The laboratory besides supplementing the theory course will also expose the students to the use of the latest software tools. Internet connectivity will also be provided to students for obtaining latest knowledge about software tools.
